To start off, I'm going to be honest with you, I laugh very easily even at things that are not supposed to be funny. My brother says my sense of humor is bad but I mean I can't really do much since that's the way I was born. Recently, I've been working on improving my sense of humor but it hasn't really worked out. I guess this is because while growing up I watched too much SpongeBob and well that sort of affected my maturity to laugh at very stupid comments. My mom never liked it when I watched SpongeBob she would say "Its bad for kids".
My sense of humor is so bad that South Park memes have become my favorite. Yes, I know. It's not something the average AP student watches but it's very funny. I mean yes some of the jokes go too far but I mean that's why they are called jokes. They don't actually mean the stuff they say.
Last week we had to rewrite the play of Ernest and honestly, I had a blast trying to make jokes in every part. I even realized that I was not that innocent anymore because everything that came to my head was in fact dirty. The ironic thing is that it was the first time that people were laughing at my jokes. Not gonna lie, usually, most of my jokes tend to be corny and cringy but I guess my sense of humor is improving, right?
My favorite actor is Adam Sandlers, this is because everything he says is very funny well sometimes a bit above PG-13, but that's okay I can handle that LOL. This year, I've learned to expand my humor by combining languages. One thing in a different language can sound funny in English and vise-versa.
I remember that back in elementary school my English wasn't that good and whenever I didn't understand a TV show/movie I would make my own translations of what they would say. This made the movie interesting because I was using my creativity to make the show funny in my own way.
Recently my screen time has gone up, and this is because I've been laughing at very stupid jokes. I can't help it sorry! I'm still working on it. Anyway, I came across some memes and I realized that the key to creating humor and satire is the irony of statements. When something is ironic, it creates laughter because of the hypocrisy of the situation. A funny moment I had this week is that I tricked the Detroit Mercy Tour Guide into thinking that my friend- who is a completely different race than me- was Mexican and that we were blood-related. The tour guide even began speaking Spanish to him and my friend played along with the game. The truth is, I kind of forgot to tell him the truth haha. I enjoy joking with people, that's what brings me joy.
